The Parker Gallery Presents: Landscape Variations

Landscape Variations, is a show featuring three landscape artists from various parts of the country. Each artist creates their scenes using oil paint. However, it is the manner they choose to use the oil paint that differentiates their work.

Gallery hours: Monday - Saturday, 11am - 4pm

September 16th – October 29th 2005

Opening Reception: Friday September 16th, 6-9pm

Rod Bouc is an artist with roots in Nebraska and currently living in Columbus, Ohio. Rod uses oil pigment sticks to apply the paint to board in a thick manner layering the texture and color of his scenes. Rod draws his inspiration from the scenery in Nebraska, Kentucky and Ohio. In contrast to Rod’s thicker textured application, Russell Horton works his oil paint until it is a smooth surface of blended colors. In his scenes of North Carolina marsh lands he captures the light reflecting in the water perfectly. He adds a point of contrast with his symbolic signs posted in the water as if marking a tide line. The signs have meaning other than the depth of the water and help contribute to his contemporary style of landscape painting. The third artist in the show, Tobin Karicher, is perhaps the most traditional in his style of painting. He uses the oil paint in an extremely classical manner representative of an early 19th century painter. Each artist brings a distinctly different style to the surface and the viewers are sure to a style they enjoy at Landscape Variations.
