The union of Pamela Soldwedel's sensuous sculptures plays enticingly beneath
Richard Barrett's exciting, brilliantly colorful photographic creations.
This is the first exhibition of Barrett's evocative works, a culmination of
many years behind the camera. His eye unerringly captures the unusually
beautiful, the deeply human reflections ranging from the serene to the
troubling, of wonder, of wit, of tenderness, each surprising in their content
of heart-felt warmth. They are depicted in a wide range from abstract to sharp
reality, from 8 feet to 8 inches in size.
Soldwedel's sculptures continue to seduce with her powerful organic studies,
springing from the quarried rocks, the blazing crucible, glowing plastics and
silvered joinings, many seeming to challenge gravity with their precariously
balanced mountings. Her latest sculptures take titillation to a new level
through experiments with golden drips and flows, gleaming splits, jagged cracks
earth patinas and uniquely intricate stratifications.
