Calvin Edward Ramsburg
ARTIST BIO
Calvin Edward Ramsburg is a full-time professional artist and first-edition and rare book collector and seller. His paintings are collected nationally. A native of Frederick County, Maryland, he began painting as a child and credits close friend and mentor Vo Dinh for encouraging him toward a career in art.
His paintings have a visual density created by planes of primary colors intersected by iconographic drawings in or atop the painted surface. These areas of color are conflicted with and uplifted by lines dissecting the picture planes revealing layers and evoking influences as diverse as deKooning and Klee. It is the color - the pivotal point, which beckons the viewer into deeper exploration of the painting.
